On Sunday 20th October Ashburton Bowls Club hosted a Coaching Symposium attended by over 70 Club Coaches from throughout Victoria and representatives from Bowls Australia and Bowls Victoria.
The day was organized by David Mayson - Ashburton and Gary Lasky - Caufield Park to specifically meet the needs of Club Coaches and extend their coaching skills.
Topics covered included warm up exercises, motivation, goal setting, player preparation for matches, pre-delivery. Other topics included off green tactics and match analysis. Alistair Robertson gave a great number of tips and exercises in an on the green segment.
After lunch there was an opportunity to ask Questions of a panel of High-Performance coaches including, Steve Glasson head coach of the Jackaroos along with a lot of brainstorming, networking and discussions on a variety of topics.
I would like to thank the many people who worked tirelessly to make the occasion successful with special thanks to the Social Committee who provided Chicken and vegetable lunchs for all the Coaches and Guest Speakers.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the coaching panel, Steve Glasson, representatives of Bowls Australia & Bowls Victoria who gave up their Sunday ensuring the success of the event.
