Once again we fielded 2 Sides in the Southern Indoor Evening Tom Watson Competition. One on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
For the Tuesday Night Side, last year’s “oh so close” finalists, it was the season that got away. 6 Games lost by less than 4 shots, including 2 against the eventual 2nd place holders Armadale, by 3 shots and 1 shot, both decided with the last bowl of the night.

The big day is nearly upon us. I have just made the long trek over to the club and am impressed with what Russell has been working on through this bitterly cold winter. The hope of warmer weather and glorious days of combat on the greens is only days away.
Make sure you have your name down for Saturday and remember there is a big lunch provided, otherwise

Hi Ashburton Bowls supporters
The annual club clean up day is on this Saturday 29th August from 10 AM.
Now that it has been renivated we have one of the best looking clubs in Melbourne, let's brush off the winter and give it a spring clean.
All supporters, volunteers and hard workers are invited to come along for jobs inside and outside the clubhouse to make it sparkle for the new season. Bring a bucket, gloves or other tools to make the job you want to do safer and easier. And ask your mates who may not be on email to help you out. A little work, a little catch up and it will be all over.
See Ron Hodgers for a job on arrival.
Ray Cracks it

Ray Namour and rink had smiles so wide their faces were in danger of cracking after Saturday’s round 8 match against Doncaster at home. Ray, and Peter Arndt, Graeme Goldsack and Denise Taylor won 39-9 to take rink of week honors.
Ray came down from the firsts the previous week and had an unhappy day with a loss, so turning it around in a big way this week was worth smiling about. Ray has been known to crack it on occasions, and crack the head with his drives. So cracking a smile was supported by all. And in a follow up to his sparkling form, on Sunday he won his singles match against the formidable Ken Lawrence.
Well done again Ray.
