A full house at Ashy today as bowlers came from all around the state to enjoy the Christmas Gala Day for 2015. In overcast conditions it was great to have so many visitors out on the greens in a highly competitive afternoons sport.

It was only made a success through sheer hard work and all involved deserve the highest praise. The lunch was superb with a healthy salad, quiche, vegies and finished off with fruit salad and ice-cream. The carrot salad was a stand-out.

We just made it, all games were completed just before the heavens opened. The team of Sid, Audrey, Peter A and Annie D got everyone rattled when they powered to a 23-6 win in the first round. And they really put the foot down in the second game to win by 18-4, a great skipping effort from Annie Davis and her team Sid Roberts, Peter Arndt, and Audury Giraud. They won the day overall. Dawn Goldsack and her rink, David Wight, Denise Taylor and John Scerri were runners up and the LuckyDraw team went to Barbara Fulton,Ken Fulton,Graeme Wood and Lynne Wood from Cranbourne, so it was great to see two Ashy teams have a win.

We had visitors from as far away as Castlemaine and another regional club, Buninyong Bowls Club as well as a role call of local clubs. Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley, Bennettswood, Glen Eira-McKinnon, Mulgrave CC, Parkdale, Bentleigh, Murrumbeena, Vermont South, Ringwood, Burwood Districts, MCC, Cheltenham, Richmond Union, Greythorn, Cranbourne and others lost in translation.

It was fantastic to see Lyn and Bruce out on our greens again, welcome back!

Well done to Dina Wall, Liz Kortum, David Mayson and everyone else who helped run the day. The stalls, raffles, lunches, tables, coffees, competition rosters and results, prizes, drinks and everything else don't just magically happen. We are blessed to have such brilliant people at our club,

We were lucky that the weather held off until the last end.
