Coaching at Ashburton!
Geoff Close has
been conducting regular coaching sessions at the Club, on a Monday
evening. Geoff has been concentrating
on the topic “How to be a Skip”, with the various aspects of this
topic being covered over a series of weeks.
These sessions commence
at 7pm each Monday.
The series has been popular
with the new members of the Club, and it is hoped to widen the
appeal of coaching to others in the Club, with the commencement in
March of the next series of sessions, on the topic of “The Mental
Approach to Bowls”.
Many of the sessions from
the Skip topic have been filmed, and will be made available to
members once edited.
A number of previous
sessions from past years have also been filmed, and are in the
process of being edited into a final form on DVD. Again, these
DVDs
will be available at the Club as soon as they are finished, for
members to view.
Currently, the Club has a
number of DVDs and videos, that cover various aspects and topics of
lawn bowls, including:
-
The Delivery Style;
-
The Grooved Delivery, Master class & In the Groove
-
Basic Bowls technique
-
Advanced Bowling.
Some matches from old “Jack
High” are also available for viewing from the Club. Our Coaching Panel (Pam &
Norm Brown, Margaret Newbold, Jack Simmons and Geoff Close) are only
too happy to make a time to see a bowler, or to discuss an aspect of
the game.
If you would like assistance
in your development as a bowler, please speak to one of our Coaching
Panel, and make a time to learn something new, or improve your
technique and knowledge.
If you wish to purchase, please
email
geoffc@ashburtonbowls.com, and Geoff will advise how you can do
this. Some DVDs are currently listed on eBay, and sells for around
$17.00 (postage included).
